A new progression comprising more than 220 apartments may be built in a car park in Sheffield city centre if newly submitted plans get the green light.
MBU RED and BW Investments have submitted a full application for plans to Sheffield City Council for a building off Scotland Street.
A structure permit is required for the structure of a residential progression partly over ten and partly over seven floors.
The program would come with 228 studios, 15 of which would be accessible, with personal bathroom, double bed, garage and kitchenette.
An internal and external service area would be created, adding a communal kitchen and dining rooms, a living room for residents, a co-working area and a gym.
The plans also include 228 secure bicycle parking lots and 4 handicapped parking lots.
Cohousing systems are aimed at graduates and young professionals and aim to provide professionally controlled housing with tenure flexibility.
It was estimated that new citizens in the scheme can generate up to £6. 2 million in additional spending in the city. Construction jobs are also expected to be created.
A design presented as part of the bid read: “The shared housing style and the quality of progress proposed will help retain graduates from Sheffield’s universities and schools, as well as attract other qualified young people to the city.
“The proposals will act as a catalyst for a wider progression of dominance along the progression of the Queens Hotel and West Bar Green northward to provide an important link between downtown and Kelham Island. “
