American Foundation motorcycle ride in Leesburg on August 19

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Virginia – The American Foundation’s last annual 9/11 motorcycle ride will take place in Leesburg on Friday, August 19, according to an announcement from the city of Leesburg.

The annual trip, which begins in Somerset, Pennsylvania, and stops at the Pentagon before ending at the World Trade Center site, will pay tribute to the heroes, volunteers and victims who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 attacks.

The motorcycle parade is expected to enter Leesburg southbound on Business Route 15 around 2 p. m. and you’ll do it down King Street through the historic city center. Motorcycles will pass from South King Street to the 7/15 Beltway and Dulles Greenway.

The time at which runners will enter Leesburg is approximate, depending on traffic, road structure and weather conditions. King Street will be closed to traffic when motorcycles cross the city. All intersections on King Street will be closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic from east to west. Road closures are expected to last 25 to 30 minutes until the motorcycles are out of town.

Anyone who wants to come downtown, observe and inspire runners on their stopover in Leesburg is inspired to arrive before 1:30 pm Parking will be available in various spaces around the city center, adding city hall parking, Liberty Street parking. parking (Liberty and Royal streets) and pennington parking (Church and North streets). Spectators are asked not to hand over anything to motorcyclists or passengers for protection reasons.
