Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2018: Italian SUV hits Canada’s roads

Milan, Italy – The advertising vehicle market is literally exploding. Who could have predicted a few years ago that these cars would take much of the car sales pie? Some car brands are even completely abandoning the production of classic cars. Another sign of the times, the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo has just introduced another SUV to the market: the Stelvio.

During a presentation organized in the Italian Alps to familiarize car lovers with the model, the rest of the people of Alfa Romeo took the opportunity to remind us of the origins of the so-called Stelvio. The Stelvio Pass is the highest mountain pass in Italy and the highest moment in the Alps. After a the Alfa Romeo Museum and its headquarters, we set off for Bormio, a small town of 4,000 inhabitants at the foot of the mountain range.

As soon as we were on the road, I opted for dynamic driving mode, one of the 3 available. That’s when I learned that the thrill of driving can be just one component of an SUV’s driving equation, as long as engineers do their homework correctly. The Alfa Romeo has been agile, even sporty. The guide is ultra accurate and provides a sense of well-being for lovers of dynamic driving. This feeling is, in my opinion, a rare occasion in this category. The two competitors in the segment that deliver it most productive are the Jaguar F-PACE and the Porsche Macan.

On the surface, Stelvio takes a look at each and every application style on the market. At the top of its legs, it has the silhouette of a sedan, although some elements of style give it a more sublime look than many other SUVs. This elegance is a registered trademark of the Turin society. Its sophisticated profile and unique grille allow the Stelvio to stand out above the others.

In my opinion, the presentation of the interior can work with a little more force. The logo designers are fervent interior advocates who lack extravagance but love simplicity and elegance. Yours, I guess!

Another point I point out is that the acquisition of an Alfa Romeo Stelvio in Canada will likely be problematic for anyone who does not live in one of the country’s major cities. To date, only 17 dealers have obtained FCA approval to sell the SUV, adding 4 in Quebec. And it follows that maintenance will also be a sensitive issue, especially when sustainability is considered to have never been considered a strong point of Italian cars. So, it would be wise to wait for other distributors to be added to the distribution network, unless you’re so fanatical about the logo you can’t wait!

For me, the Stelvio an 8 out of 10.

Ed. Note: Prices for diversity Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2018 from $52995 to $92,000. Buyers can choose between a 4-cylinder 2.0 L engine with 280 hp and a 2.9 L V6 with 505 hp.
