On a dark day for football, the AFL announced that about 20% of the roles in its many operations would disappear as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic which has already made 2020 the league’s turbulent peak season.
The chef delivered an all-time dish from Mitch Georgiades after a cardinal sin this weekend.
On a bloody day for the Gold Coast Suns, the club showed previous reports Monday that Solomon and four other senior members of the club’s training had not won a contract beyond the 2020 season.
They would have been informed of last week’s announcement: there is no place for them at the club in 2021.
The Suns announced Monday that Ashley Prescott, Nick Malceski, Andrew Swallow and Justin Koschitzke have been informed that they will have new clubs until the end of the year.
Fremantle also announced Monday that assistants Anthony Rock and Michael Prior, as well as strength and fitness coach Jason Weber, had also lost their jobs.
The Suns have blamed the football department’s flexible cap for the 2020 season, and the expected cuts that would cause the football department’s budget to be cut from $10 million to $6 million next season.
However, Welsh turned to Twitter on Monday to say that the unruly resolve to move Solomon after nine years to the Suns could be more important.
Solomon, the principal assistant to The Suns coach Stuart Dew, in 2020 and appointed interim coach in 2017 to end the season after his split with former coach Rodney Eade.

Solomon, a former Welsh teammate with an award-winning Essfinishon, remains highly regarded in the industry and would have been Justin Longmuir’s finalist when Fremantle led his extensive training designation procedure at the end of 2019.
That’s why Welsh claims there would possibly be more in Solomon’s axe.
“Smells a little like me, a senior coach watching how much @SollySolomon
is and is threatened, but it will obscure a comfortable cap decision,” Welsh posted on Twitter in an astonishing accusation against Dew.
“There is no doubt that all clubs will need to talk to him, but the call does not seem to be of the general’s interest.”
Former Essendon player Robert Shaw also failed to make the Suns’ decision.
“Not particularly aimed at Solly, but without shame for respect and love for the boy,” Shaw posted on Twitter.
“But $$$ in other people will see so many very smart and talented clubs in all the clubs lost in the game.SollySolomon will be lost to football.”
The Suns released Jon Haines, general manager of football operations, to explain the decision.

“Due to the economic effect of COVID-19, every football branch of the AFL is lately contemplating supporting its player organization with significant relief on the flexible roof of football,” he said.
“This is a difficult time for everyone in the AFL and they have been considered a number of possible complicated options.
“Like all clubs in the competition, we have an idea of how we are creating a football program capable of assembling our football strategy with another set of resources.
“As a component of this process, we have not offered an opportunity for 2021 and beyond sunS football decomposition staff.
“This is an incredibly complicated time, as we had to say goodbye to the other right people who made a significant contribution to the Gold Coast SUNS.We will be grateful to those affected by their hard work and dedication.
