AAM and GM worked in combination to upgrade the previous generation rear axle with a newly designed 3-bracket independent rear axle module. The new design includes a lightweight aluminum case and a low shift hypoid gear to provide progressive power and complex functionality in terms of noise, vibration and hardness.
“AAM and GM have teamed up to expand a new shaft that is incredibly effective and complements passenger comfort while maintaining vehicle functionality,” said David C. Dauch, president and CEO of AAM. “Developed and tested at our progression and generation center in Detroit, this formula offers world-class functionality combined with unmatched durability.”
