A bridge will soon be built from the city of Oconomowoc on the P-Highway with a history of collisions.
According to the Waukesha County Public Works, on behalf of Union Pacific Railroad, the assignment will begin on August 3 and end on September 30. Union Pacific Railroad will upgrade the P-Free Railway Bridge, also known as Brown Street.
The project site is just south of Highway CW (Mapleton Road). A posted detour will route traffic via Highway K (west) to Highway 67 (north) to Highway O (east) in Dodge County.
The bridge, which hit several times through trucks due to its low free height, will be replaced and raised. From now on, the bridge is 12 feet 8 inches high; it is expected to rise through 3 feet.
Union Pacific owns the bridge and will fully fund the project.
