A Jacksonville mother shot dead at a fuel station

Jacksonville, Florida – A memorial is being developed at a gas station where a young mother died.

Family and friends are not in a position to speak on camera, but identify the victim as Brittany “Bee” Matthews.

HISTORY UPDATE: Police locate a van connected to a homicide at the Jacksonville fuel station; JSO is now for the identity of 2 other people who may have information.

A new video from the Action News Jax Sky Vision drone shows the Shell fuel station at the corner of Edgewood Avenue West and Avenue B where the young mother died Monday.

Jamarlo Phillips, an Action News reporter, spoke to a guy who witnessed the shooting.

For his own protection, he asked to be identified.

“I’m sitting here in my car, this car right there, sitting right there, I’m on my phone about to get in position to get into the workshop and I hear pow, pow, pow,” said a witness who asked not to be named.

In these photos, a man dressed in a hoodie and face mask can be seen while holding a firearm.

Police said the guy parked in a silver Nissan Rogue was delivered and fired several shots at a car before leaving.

Mad Dads, a local nonprofit committed to solving crimes, says the network wants to speak.

“They have no respect for human life. They embarrass the net and they’ll have to break the code of silence to get this person off our network. She was a mom under any circumstances,” President Donald Foy said.

Police say the victim was attacked.

“Oh, my God, I hope you understand. I’m not going to say anything bad about this guy because I don’t know what kind of dates he’s on or why he did it,” the witness said.

Police say if they know about the shooting, call them or Crime Stoppers.
