About 44 years later, Minnesota resident Bob Sportal paid $75 for a 1957 1957 Chevrolet pickup truck that retired farmer John VanDerVeen had to get rid of. Retired and without having to move to work, Sportal sold the van to no one but the grandson of the guy he bought it from. More importantly, he sold it for the same $75.
Sportal originally bought the patina-rich van in 1nine76 and used it as a daily driver, reports nine NEWS, which originally told a story about the then 38-year-old man dating the guy and the van in 2015. Today, part of the Chevy Task Force -ton has a dented or rusty frame in places where there are boys, upholstery fastened in combination through duct tape and more rattles than a nursery, however, it remains an attractive item for Sportal and Tom Leenstra, grandson of old VanDerVeen. Leenstra allegedly harassed Sportal for buying the van for more than a decade, but because Sportal was still glued to the van and still used to get around, he hesitated to sell.
“It’s a component of you, I don’t know how to do it,” Sportal said in 2015.
With normal silo trips that are no longer part of your itinerary, a woguy interested in the transparent area in the garage and a younger guy eager to buy the old van, Sportal found himself able to sell and pay for the favor that VanDerVeen did. “It has served my purpose and it’s time for others to take advantage of it,” Sportal said. “That’s what I paid for it, so that’s what I’m going to sell for. It’s going into the family, so that’s the most vital thing.”
Leenstra, who hasn’t driven the van since the age of nine, towed the old Chevrolet house, able to drive it in the past.
“It’s like traveling with my grandfather,” Leenstra said.
