Police CCTV footage after ‘attack’ in Chesterfield
Craig Beresford had allowed his friend to use his vehicle on March 15 and won a call from the friend saying the car was in a ditch near South Wingfield, he heard the Chesterfield Magistrates Court on Friday, August 7.
He then drove to the scene in his works van but was met by police who were investigating the collision.
During the chase, Katie Hamill testified that witnesses saw the occupants of the vehicle, who were not known in court, and then left the crash site in the vehicle.
“At the scene, he told police that the vehicle was his and he didn’t pass a blood alcohol test on the road,” he said.
Beresford, 28, of Bakewell Road, Baslow, admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol when he made the impression in court.
During the test, he breathed 44 mg of alcohol consistent with a hundred ml of breath, just above the limit, the court heard.
Mitigatingly, Steve Brint said: “This is not drinking and driving in general. He took some pints of beer before and was staying at his mother’s house and went there to verify that the vehicle was safe, and unfortunately it was a little above the limit. »
Beresford was banned from driving for 12 months, was fined two hundred euros and ordered to pay 85 euros in fees and a victim surcharge of 32 euros.
