The Castlebar Gardaí are looking for witnesses following a deadly single-vehicle collision on the road in Mayo County on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
The Gardaí and emergency services were alerted shortly before 5pm following a collision involving a motorbike in Cloonkeen, near Castlebar, on the R309. The driver, an 18-year-old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The road leading to the destination twist site has been closed and local detours are in operation. Forensic collision investigators have been asked to read up on the scene. The local coroner has been notified and an autopsy will be arranged.
Gardaí asks all witnesses to the collision to come forward.
In addition, road users who have camera footage, including speed camera footage, that was in the vicinity at the time are requested to provide it to the Gardaí investigation.
