Hotel bosses have trapped bragged dumpsters driving a garbage truck into their parking lot.
Lots of grass, bricks, wood and other debris dumped in the parking lot of the Hotel Station in Thornton in the early hours of Monday last week.
A truck with a unique yellow stripe stuck in the hotel’s CCTV system, which heads to the site and leaves.
The hotel owner, Asif Hussain, reviewed the situation after locating the pile of garbage dumped on his property.
It follows a series of fly dump incidents in the area.
The hotel owner, Asif Hussain, said: “We have many messages from other people telling us that this is close to Fife.
“We contacted the police and she said there was nothing she could do. They gave us a number for a branch of the council to report.”
“The board branch that called said it would touch SEPA, but because it’s personal ground, they’re unlikely to be able to do anything.”
Dawn Jamieson, head of the Fife Council team, said the authority would handle the incident.
“Unfortunately, in those difficult times, when we’re already under pressure, there are a growing number of reports of fly overturning around Fife,” he said.
“Everyone is guilty of their own waste and must dispose of it responsibly.
“If waste has been dumped, even if it is on the ground, we can investigate and, if there is enough evidence, we can take enforcement action.”
He added: “There is no excuse for tipping flies, which is a flagrant for the law and our external environment. No one needs to see the trash dumped, and that has a direct effect on the state of our roads, parks, wildlife and communities.
“Our recycling centers are open and we urge others to use these services and dispose of recyclable waste responsibly.”
She suggested to others to verify that whoever takes their waste is well recorded to do so.
