A British woman murdered in front of her family on a Greek island.
The 47-year-old was walking through the city of Chania, Crete, when a car crashed into his group.
The driver got lost from the vehicle and ran over the woman and her 54-year-old sister-in-law.
The victim, who suffered a head injury, was rushed to a hospital near the city of Rethmino.
He died there a few hours later. His sister-in-law survived the accident and suffered abrasions on her arms and legs, The Sun reported.
It happened on Friday around 7:30 p. m. The Hellenic police are investigating lately.
The car ended up in a box with the symbol of the scene appearing as a broken silver Peugeot next to an olive tree.
The victim’s name has not yet been revealed.
It is the latest incident in Greece involving a British tourist, after the death of a young man when he fell “headfirst” from the balcony of a hotel on the festive island of Zakynthos.
The incident occurred on Thursday last week, hours after the Briton momentarily fell from the first balcony of the floor of his hotel.
Crete is the largest of the Greek islands and is a tourist destination among British tourists.
In 2023 there were more than 800,000 visitors from the United Kingdom, the second highest number after Germany, according to Statista studies.
