Truck Prevention Infographic on Emirates Road

Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), announced that the final touch rate of Trucks Rest Stop’s allocation in Dubai Land, Emirates Road, had reached 55%. The structure of the facility, which is being carried out in partnership with the personal sector, is the first built-in truck prevention zone that meets the fundamental wishes of heavy vehicle drivers throughout the emirate.

“Al Sahraa Group, the promoter of the assignment, had carried out 55% of the transfer work, adding up initial processes prior to the structure phase such as obtaining a certificate of non-objection, leveling of the land, protection of public service lines and obtaining the last structure permit from the relevant authorities, al Tayer said.

“The station covers five hectares and includes one hundred truck parking lots and other amenities to meet the fundamental and daily desires of truckers and a specialized technical testing center for heavy vehicles. With the creation of this station, RTA aims to address disruptions related to parking trucks along roads and in residential areas. This will also allow RTA to meet the growing demand for truck stops, as trucks make about 14,500 trips and lift about 3 million tons each day in Dubai,” Al Tayer said.

Benefits

“The structure of the station will improve road safety, reduce truck-related injuries and speed up traffic bans. The allocation will also encourage the involvement of the personal sector in infrastructure implementation and service allocations. It will also generate a new source of income for RTA through the source of investor income sharing, and offer investment opportunities for investors in various areas. It will improve the quality of public facilities and bring knowledge, experience and innovation from the personal sector to the public sector. In particular, it will provide government workers exposed to the control and monitoring of these types of long-term assignments made in the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model,” Al Tayer explained.

“RTA gives a top priority to land transport because it is for the progress of the economy and trade. The allocation supports the Dubai Silk Road strategy that is summed up in Dubai’s 50-year charter and the Silk Road Economic Belt initiative. The UAE is a station on the Silk Economic Route and is the gateway to the Middle East and Africa as a component of the allocation connecting the region’s advertising markets,” Al Tayer added.

“RTA commissioned an in-depth examination of truck movements in Dubai, as well as studies, interviews and workshops with the departments and corporations involved. He also developed a schematic style for predicting long-term truck movements and assessed the need for dry ports or meetings and freight distribution centers. It also assessed the policies and schedules of the existing truck traffic ban and the need for roads for compromised trucks, in addition to all organizational and structural facets similar to truck control and cargo movements in Dubai,” Al Tayer said.

“RTA has built 18 rest spaces for transient trucks in the right of way of several major roads in Dubai with a total capacity of 538 parking spaces to provide safe and convenient parking spaces for truck interdiction trucks, and have been fully operational.
