As automakers from General Motors to Bentley abandon their plans to move all-in to electric vehicles, it’s comforting to see some popularity from the proliferation of battery-powered vehicles. The Autotrader car buying market has identified the truth that electrified cars (not necessarily one hundred percent electric) are here to stay.
The site compiles an annual list of new cars (under $110,000). This year’s list of 11 cars includes two all-electric cars (EVs) and 3 hybrid cars (HEVs), which are not yet plugged in and use an electric motor along with a gasoline internal combustion engine. Both all-electric models are famous, all-new models from Audi and Kia, while hybrids are an exciting mix of new models like the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray and Toyota Grand Highlander hybrid SUV.
While not included in the electrified lineup, the Hyundai Kona is also available as an all-electric or traditional gasoline model. That same list last year included the Toyota Prius and the Genesis GV60. Obviously, the fervor for electric vehicles is cooling, but hybrids remain hot for buyers.
While only two all-electric models make the list, it’s fair to say that attention and favor are turning toward hybrids, whether plug-in or conventional. But all-electric features are still available and even affordable for luxury and high-end consumers. Horsepower features with greater diversity and seating area than ever before.
Audi’s original electric SUV, the e-tron, is getting a facelift: it’s now the Q8 e-tron. It features a new grille and a larger 106 kWh battery, expanding diversity to 285 miles as the electric crossover segment heats up. The downside of the e-tron has been its deficient diversity of around two hundred miles.
In an email, Robby DeGraff, an analyst at automotive research firm AutoPacific, said the new e-tron “remains an important choice for consumers. “It operates in a lucrative area that requires a lot of cash and is becoming competitive in terms of competition. .
Kia’s latest (and largest) electric vehicle looks like an all-electric Telluride with a range of 304 miles on a single charge. “The EV9 brings the three-row SUV into the EV era with the available features that matter most,” Steven Center, chief operating officer and executive vice president of Kia America, said in a press release issued through the Korean automaker about the EV9’s inclusion.
A Kia style has been on Autotrader’s list every year since 2020.
Analyst DeGraff agrees with the EV9’s placement on this year’s list. “The strategy followed with the EV9 is smart: mix a typical Telluride silhouette with even more eye-catching styling changes and an EV platform showcased,” he wrote in an email. “Undoubtedly, the EV9 will continue to bring Kia closer to its EV sales targets. There are plenty of three-row EVs out there, and from the most sensible to the lowest, the EV9 is a winner. “

While plug-in hybrids offer more diversity and are the most productive in the classic electric and gasoline world, the classic hybrids popularized through the Toyota Prius are more popular than ever. But now, it’s not just effective sedans that benefit from this. Economic boost: Sports cars and larger SUVs are adding hybrid generation for more fuel power (but higher costs for new cars).
An electrified sports car: what’s not to like? The Corvette benefits from the electric remedy without going all the way, just a little flavor with the hybrid powertrain. The E in “E-Ray” puts it at 650 horsepower and zero to 60 mph in 2. 5 seconds.
AutoPacific’s DeGraff highlighted the E-Ray. In an email, he wrote, “The electrification of what will be the flagship model has resulted in new degrees of functionality unlocked thanks to its all-wheel drive and 160-horsepower electric motor parked on its front axle. “
Also, “Jumps of less than three seconds at 60 mph?The Corvette E-Ray is America’s secret weapon to take on Porsche, Ferrari, McLaren and Lamborghini. Be careful. “
The Santa Fe will launch its first hybrid edition of the redesigned SUV later this year. Hyundai’s large SUV has a completely new look, so the electrification option may get lost in the redesign.
With Toyota’s new SUV, no one should be surprised that it offers a hybrid edition. The Prius maker has incorporated its electric generation into its new three-row SUV, offering an edition with 27 miles per gallon (combined). The smaller Highlander Hybrid is even bigger at 36 mpg, but it’s not quite as great.
