Around 50 cannabis plants with a potential street value of £30,000 were seized as police investigated the theft of several vehicles. Officers from Warwickshire Police’s Rural Crime Team located a stolen van and trailer and a suspected stolen Land Rover Defender as they searched a site near Ryton-on-Dunsmore on behalf of the National Grid and a local energy supplier.
While waiting for the cars to be recovered, police “followed their nose to the early stages of hashish cultivation,” an RCT spokesperson said. “This is the explanation of why the police corporation detected inconsistencies in the reading of the meters.
“More than 50 plants were seized and destroyed along with all related objects. A harvest like this would possibly not be ‘special’, but with an approximate return of £30,000, finding that it has affected the pockets of offenders.
