2027 Porsche Cayenne EV Spy Photos

Porsche confirmed last year that its next Cayenne will be electric, and now we have fresh photos of what’s thought to be a test mule.

The vehicle possibly resembles one of the many electric Macan prototypes due later this month, but there are a number of clues that imply it is a test mule for the fourth-generation electric Cayenne.

Compared to the Macan EV prototypes, the Check Mule has a much wider track, as indicated by the widened wheel arches. The slope of the windshield is also different and the wheelbase is longer, as indicated through the recoil of the rear wheels. The Lacheck Check Mule also has what appears to be a visually larger battery on the floor of the vehicle. The exhaust pipes at the rear are fake.

Using Macan EV prototypes to hide the Cayenne EV’s mechanicals makes sense, as the two cars are expected to share the Volkswagen Group’s modular PPE platform designed for high-end electric cars. The platform is flexible enough to generate low and high patterns in length categories. .

For the Macan EV, the platform will come with a hundred kWh battery (95 kWh usable) and a drive axle. The combined power of at least one model will be more than 603 hp, and even higher power will most likely be for a Cayenne. EV.

While it has yet to be confirmed, it’s possible that a four-motor powertrain will be introduced in the electric Cayenne. Such a formula would not only provide maximum powers, but also faster and more accurate torque vectoring. Porsche said in 2019 that exactly that formula was coming.

Announcing the Cayenne EV in March, Porsche said the vehicle would come after the electric 718, planned for 2025 and would use a specific platform for sports cars. Porsche also showed plans for a three-row electric SUV sitting atop the Cayenne, planned for 2027 and expected to use a next-generation SSP Sport platform. That means the Cayenne is expected to arrive in 2026, which would likely make it a 2027 model in the United States.

Production will be handled at Volkswagen Group’s plant in Bratislava, Slovakia. The plant currently builds the gas-powered Cayenne that just underwent a major update for 2024.

Porsche predicts that up to 80% of its sales will be electric by the end of the decade, meaning that the majority of the automaker’s lineup will upgrade cylinders with battery cells in the coming years. Porsche has said in the past that only the 911 is expected to have a gasoline engine until 2030.

An electric hypercar featured in the recent Mission X concept is also expected to be part of the plan, but Porsche hasn’t indicated when exactly that model will arrive.
