2026 Cadillac Lyriq -V adds a hundred HP – The maximum throttle

While GM has worked for Cadillac to go from being a provider of land yachts of the old American school to become a true competitor of the main European luxury brands during the last three decades, functionality has been a key component of that effort . Before the 21st century, Cadillac and the functionality were not, however, the combination of the V series models and motor sport had a safe effect on the brand image. In 2025, Cadillac will launch its first electrical access to series V, the new Lyriq-V.

After its initial launch in 2022, the Cadillac Lyriq finally seemed to have turned a corner in 2024, with GM resolving many of its software and battery production issues. The Lyriq closed the year as GM’s second best-selling electric vehicle, only the Chevrolet Equinox EV with 28,402 sales.

In Cadillac, adding a series V label is more than simply a badge in the badge and showing everything in bright black, which in fact is part of the packaging. All initial photographs show the car with a matte silver finish with generally black moldings. V visual adjustments are quite subtle.

The “grille” area which is painted from the interior with the pattern etched away to show the lighting effects has been modified. The pinstripe pattern of the standard Lyriq has been changed to a more wing-like appearance that would seem to imply speed. The lower portion of the fascia has also been recontoured for a more aggressive appearance while the rocker panels have also been extended a bit to help enclose the larger tires. The rear end looks basically unchanged.

On the inside, the front seats have more aggressive bolstering with unique stitching patterns featuring the V logo. The infotainment system graphics have also been updated with V-series iconography. The V also comes with hands-off, Super Cruise driving assist as standard equipment. The Lyriq-V is also the first Cadillac to get a new dual-plane augmented reality heads-up display. This allows information like navigation prompts to appear to hover further in the distance, above an actual turn, getting closer as you drive.

Of course, what makes the Cadillac V-Series style special is its increased speed. The popular Lyriq will offer a choice of 365 horsepower with a single rear motor or 515 horsepower with two motors and all-wheel drive. The Lyriq-V gets a higher hundred horsepower with the same 615-horsepower, 650-lb-ft dual-motor configuration as the upcoming 3-row Vistiq.

This places it more or less in the same functionality range as the SUV EQE, the BMW IX M60 and the Mercedes-AMG with a time of 0 to 100 of 3. 3 seconds compared to 3. 6 and 3. 4 seconds of the Germans. This turns the Lyriq-V into the fastest cadillac to date, faster than the CTS-V Blackwing, but given its circumference of approximately three tons, it probably could not be kept up to date with the sedan. A racing track.

The other key competitor is Tesla Model X. The double engine X model is designed to move from 0 to 60 seconds in 3. 8 seconds, while the three -engines model can accelerate in 2. 5 seconds. The Polestar 3 with Pack Performance costs 80,800 dollars and is worth the same as the Cadillac of $ 79,900, but has almost one hundred horses less and a time of 0 to 60 seconds slower than 1. 2 seconds.

The Lyriq-V maintains the same 102 kWh battery as other versions of the Lyriq. The 275/40R22 tires are the same length as the optional tires on the models, but the all-season compound is replaced with a summer functionality setup that supplies more grip, but still has more rolling resistance, reducing the diversity estimate from 303 to 285 miles.

Stopping power is enhanced with a set of Brembo brakes on the front corners. Software updates for the Lyriq-V include the addition of launch control as well as competitive mode for improved traction management under a variety of conditions. As with many EVs including others from GM, the full performance potential is suppressed a bit most of the time. After all, how often do we actually need to get to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds (just think of your tire bill!).

Production of the Lyriq-V will begin in early 2025 on the same assembly line in Spring Hill, Tennessee, as the other Lyriqs, as well as the Vistiq and Acura ZDX.
