A prototype of the new Audi A7 Avant estate has once again been spied on and reveals many new details.
The vehicle will be paired with a redesigned A7 Sportback sedan in an expanded A7 family that is expected to begin arriving around 2025. It’s unclear if the pickup truck will be successful in the U. S. , but the sedan will most likely arrive to those shores. as style 2026. The existing A7 Sportback has been on sale since the 2019 style year and is expected to receive a redesign soon.
This A7 Avant will replace the current A6 Avant that for its next generation is going the electric route. Prototypes for an electric A6 Avant E-Tron as well as an A6 E-Tron sedan have already been spotted testing, and a debut for both should be just around the corner.
A similar strategy is planned for the A5 family, which will result in a redesigned A5 Sportback, as well as a new A5 Avant that will replace the existing A4 Avant. Expect all long-lasting A4 Avants (and A4 sedan) to be battery-powered. This is all due to a call replacement announced through Audi last year, in which electric models will have an even number in their call and calls for internal combustion engine models will have an even number.

Audi hasn’t talked about its plans for the next A7, but expect the automaker to stick with the current-generation MLB platform, with some revisions. Audi plans to phase out combustion models in most markets by the end of this decade, so it’s unlikely to invest in a new ICE platform for the next A7.
The A7 Avant concept features a sportier, more sculpted design than the existing A6 Avant, which makes sense if the vehicle is to be paired with a long-term A7 Sportback. A large, protruding grille is located at the front, while at the rear there are wide, muscular hips that incorporate side air vents below the taillights. Interestingly, it looks like Audi is also making plans to return to exposed exhaust tips, although only on one side of the rear fascia on some versions.
A yellow warning sticker on the prototypes points to an electrified powertrain being tested, likely a plug-in hybrid setup.
A high-performance RS 7 Avant is also expected to be in the works, also with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It will update the existing RS 6 Avant that Audi is said to ship with an extreme GT model, prototypes of which have possibly also been spotted.
