The XC40 Recharge, in its own way, is the quintessential Volvo: practical, solidly designed and as modern as a fanny pack. Still, this all-electric subcompact luxury SUV has the protective features on the market and offers a particularly fun drive.
The company has extended the XC40 Recharge’s maximum range to 293 miles by employing a new single-engine powertrain. The twin-engine equipment, on the other hand, has its range greater than 254 miles. The Recharge’s new single-engine powertrain makes 248 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. In my dual-motor edition, torque increases up to 8 lb-ft and diversity improves to 254 miles. The EPA says you get 118 MPG city and 95 MPGe highway for a total of 106 MPGe.

EVs are fun at low speeds, and charging goes from 0 to 60 in about four seconds. There’s good looks too, whether it’s in its run after a stop and in its perfect overtaking paints at top speeds. (Some electrical system paints fine in the city, but lags behind on the upper road. ) With any luck, you’ll be able to swerve left and right on winding roads within reason, and the one-pedal service nicely slows you down nicely by stepping on brake lights or signs. .
