2024 Peugeot 408 Price and Specs

The 2024 Peugeot 408 will be in Australian showrooms between July and September this year at a price of $67,990 plus driving costs.

The 408 has the approximate footprint of a Toyota RAV4 family SUV, and has tall suspension for an SUV-like look, but has a streamlined, sedan-like body with a hatchback tailgate.

It will launch in Australia in a single plug-in hybrid model, the GT, priced at $67,990 before road costs, or more than $70,000 per car.

It costs $3,000 more than the equivalent plug-in hybrid edition of the 308 hatchback, with which the 408 stores its DNA, but less expensive than the larger 3008 SUVs and 508 plug-in hybrid sedans, which charge more than $80,000.

According to the documents, 408 cheaper petrol cars have been approved for sale in Australia, but they have not yet been shown in showrooms.

The 408 was initially expected in showrooms at the end of 2023 but was delayed until the third quarter of 2024 (July to September), a delay of about nine months. Pre-orders are now open.

The 408 plug-in hybrid is powered by a 1. 6-litre, 132 kW turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and an 81 kW engine, a 12. 4 kWh battery and an eight-speed automatic transmission for a combined output of 165 kW and 360 Nm.

Peugeot claims to have a range of 60 kilometers in electric-only mode in European WLTP tests and a fuel consumption of 1. 5 liters per hundred kilometers in the indulgent laboratory tests.

Charging is limited to 3. 7 kW on an AC outlet, with a drain-to-completion rate that would take six hours on a household outlet, or 3. 5 hours on a 7. 4 kW or 11 kW outlet (since the car can only make do with 3. 7 kW). ).

Standard features come with a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10-inch tool screen, LED matrix headlights, electrically adjustable heated and massage front seats, nappa leather upholstery and a suite of protective technologies.

A complete list of devices is included at the end of this story.

The 2024 Peugeot 408 is now available to pre-order ahead of first showroom arrivals after July 2024.

Note: All of the above costs exclude road costs.
