2024 CFMOTO 450MT Australian Review – Motorcycle Test

The only thing I was missing from the controls was the option of heated grips, but I think they could be an additional option in the near future. USB-A and C ports are conveniently incorporated into the dashboard look and come standard. . Surprisingly, the 450 MT doesn’t have an electric drive system, so there’s no cruise control option.

The giant five-inch TFT display looks a lot like a tablet and obviously displays all the necessary information in its two demo modes. Thankfully, the menus are easy to navigate, and while the features are modest, they’re not too confusing and are a smart compatibility for this aspect of motorcycling. It has Bluetooth connectivity; however, it does not demonstrate turn-by-turn navigation from a smartphone.   This may come in a long-term firmware update.

It has a nifty CFMOTO Ride app, which maps to your express motorcycle, your VIN number and tracks and records your riding knowledge for later viewing, adding ride time, distance traveled as well as maximum and average speeds and the remaining range. tracks your address and overlays it on a basemap. It’s not incredibly accurate, but it doesn’t require any user intervention; It simply does its homework in the background while you casually enjoy your ride.

Another impressive feature of the CFMOTO 450 MT and Ride app is its ability to send notifications if your motorcycle is hit or moves when parked. You can even install a geofence around your house. So if your motorcycle goes outdoors, the 500-meter radius explained in the app, you’ll get an alert. If you are a victim of thieves or just where you are parked, you can also track the location of your motorcycle from the app. Surprisingly, this feature has already contributed to the recovery of 450 MT stolen in Australia.

CFMOTO also issue updates to the motorcycle ECU via the app, which you can install to the motorcycle OTA – over the air. Simply open the app, switch on the ignition of the motorcycle and press install, no need to visit the dealer. We actually tried this feature out ourselves when we were alerted that a new update was available to ‘optimise the throttle performance in low-speed’. It took less than five minutes from go to whoa without needing to plug anything in. Impressive.

Overall, I’m very inspired by the CFMOTO 450 MT as a whole, especially with a starting value of $9,500. For young riders, a LAMS-compatible bike ticks all the boxes: cheap, looks great, sounds great, uses little fuel, has lots of accessories, and is rarely too confusing or intimidating.

It has the ability to turn urban spaces into playgrounds with that 200mm suspension and 21-inch front end, while also offering the flexibility to go off the beaten path safely and easily. It will praise you for perfecting your riding style while boosting your confidence to upgrade to a more capable adventure motorcycle on the trail.

Also, for more experienced riders looking to transition to more adventurous off-road riding, or for those simply looking to take a step back from extensive off-road riding but still need to get into the bush, I would. I invite you to think seriously about the 450 MT.

Australians already love it. With over six hundred sales here since the 450 MT went on sale in May, it’s fair to say that the CFMOTO 450 MT is the best-selling adventure motorcycle in the country lately. Big Brother 800 MT is also doing well, with over a thousand copies sold here in the first 12 months it was on sale.

And not surprisingly, it is a significant investment for little money.
