2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia also recalled due to potentially burning fuel leak after Maserati

Stellantis has extended a recall of cars provided with a fuel line sensor from supplier Hutchinson for the 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia. It is joined by the Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli, which were recalled for maintenance last month.

The parts were manufactured in Poland, and for a short period of time, a production error may have caused the fuel line sensor to break. If that happens, a fuel leak can occur, and that’s obviously very bad news.

Alfa Romeo reports that the leak can save fuel for the engine, depriving it of fuel and causing the vehicle to stall. This can leave the Giulia without electrical power on the road, exposing occupants and other road users to danger.

However, the problem can also be faster. In rare cases, spilled fuel can simply come into contact with a hot surface and cause a fire. Alfa Romeo does not specify how many warranty reports it has obtained in relation to this factor. However, Maserati said it is not aware of any injuries or injuries resulting from this factor in its vehicles.

Owners of those styles would possibly be alerted to a challenge if they smell gasoline or notice a reduction in engine performance. A total of 261 2021 Giulias were equipped with faulty fuel line sensors; this is in addition to the 28 Maserati Ghiblis and 30 Quattroportes in the past that have been known to have been affected by this issue.

To this end, Alfa Romeo will start contacting owners from June 19 and ask them to return their Giulia to a nearby dealership. There, a technician will remove the sensor housing from the problematic fuel line and upgrade it with a new one.
