Affected vehicles: approximately 700 mini SE Countryman pluggable hybrid sedans of the year 2020 style, 2020-21 style BMW X3 PHEV SUV of the year and 2021 style BMW 330th PHEV sedans and 2021-style X5 PHEV SUV
The problem: Loose welding cables can form a conductive trail between the hybrid battery cells, which can cause a short circuit, increasing the threat of fire.
Solution: Distributors will update and, if necessary, battery modules without charge.
What homeowners do: The mini BMW manufacturer will start informing homeowners on October 12.BMW and Mini owners can call the automaker at 800-525-7417, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle protection hotline, on the vehicle identification number online page and be informed.
