The new and sportier edition will probably be in the V or VX variant in the most sensible range.

Those who are unaffected by the average Indian buyers’ penchant for SUVs and who bet on a compact sedan would possibly have reviewed Honda City, Hyundai Verna or Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. However, Toyota’s offering in the segment, the Yaris, has failed to attract customers. But the Japanese automaker is preparing to replace that.
Work is underway on an update to the Yaris that will renew the appeal of the sedan. Toyota will do this by offering a two-tone roof and diamond alloy wheels to bring the Yaris to life. Inside, the touchscreen infotainment formula will get the connectivity options of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The new Yaris will also feature an all-black cab theme and a black leather simulation coating compared to the two-tone end of the existing style, there will be other internal settings of the Yaris cab. All these adjustments were recently made in Yaris 2020 to Brazil’s specifications.

Mechanically, the Yaris will remain unchanged and Toyota will continue to offer it with a 1.5-liter petrol engine with 108 hp and 140 Nm, along with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 4-variant CVT.
The Yaris probably wouldn’t have performed well in terms of sales, but the sedan has its strengths. For example, the Yaris is one of the safest cars in the segment with popular features such as seven airbags, EBD ABS and superior braking assistance variants that gain advantages from more active protection features.
To make it a more exciting proposition for customers, we can expect Toyota to lower the value of the Yaris once those adjustments are applied to the sedan. Expect the updated sedan to be announced in the coming weeks. Currently, the value of Yaris is between Rs 9.29 lakh and Rs 14.07 lakh (both ex-new Delhi showroom).
