2 wounded kill 2 on I-40 on Saturday night

A guy who died while the Toyota Camry he was driving crashed into the back of a semitrailer on I-40 eastbound on Saturday night, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

The wreckage, near the Oglesby Road overpass, about 10 miles west of a five-vehicle accident on I-40 eastbound in Sevier County that left one user dead and others injured.

The tractor-trailer in erratic traffic at approximately 11:40 p.m. when it crashed into the Camry traveling “at interstate speeds,” according to KPD spokesman Scott Erland.

The driving force was declared dead at the scene and her body was transported to the regional forensic center for an autopsy, Erland said. No other injuries were reported in the accident, he said.

The Sevier County crash, which occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m., forced the closure of all lanes in an eastered direction. Several hours passed before all lanes were reopened and the injured were transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, according to Bob Stahlke, Sevier County civil servant.

The identities of the victims of the two injuries have not yet been revealed.
