Robbins police said the stolen KIA was involved in a fatal crash. Three 13-year-old boys were arrested.
ROBBINS, Ill. (WLS) — Three 13-year-old boys were arrested Sunday in connection with a fatal crash while riding in a stolen car, police said.
A witness describes the seconds leading up to the collision.
“An organization of boys, most likely teenagers, stole a vehicle,” the witness said. the truck and ran away. “
Robbins police saw a recent Kia model with the driver’s side window damaged driving north on Kedzie Avenue around 2:30 p. m.
The officer alerted dispatch to the suspicious vehicle and attempted to drive toward the Kia. However, the officer saw smoke rising from what appeared to be a twist of fate just ahead.
When the officer arrived on the scene, he saw that the stolen Kia was involved in a fatal twist of fate with a recent style Ford Taurus.
Witnesses said the guy had just stepped out of his driveway near St. Church. Mission. Peter Claver on South Claire Boulevard at the time.
“It hit, unfortunately, and it’s terrible,” the witness said.
The Robbins Fire Department sent and responded to the scene where a 71-year-old man exited the Ford.
“The first unit to arrive discovered a seriously injured vehicle in a ditch with a user still in the vehicle,” Robbins Fire Department Chief Nic Malley Sr. said.
He rushed to Christ Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.
Authorities still don’t know the 71-year-old.
According to witnesses, the twist of fate occurred in front of the victim’s home.
