Ajman: About 125 outlets at Ajman’s public market were completely destroyed after a large fireplace exploded at the market on Wednesday night.
The market chimney was demolished and no casualties were reported, said Major General Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, commander-in-chief of the Ajman police.
The market closed for 4 months as a COVID-19 safety measure.
“Civil coverage sets and 25 police and ambulance cars responded immediately, achieving the site in 3 minutes. They had to isolate the neighbouring buildings and control the chimney,” Sheikh Sultan Al Nuaimi said.
The police evacuated the building. Investigations are underway to find out the cause of the fire.
Brigadier General Abdul Aziz Ali Al Shamsi, Ajman’s director of civil defense, said Ajman’s civil defense had controlled the chimney with Dubai Civil Defense Teams Sharjah and um Al Quwain.
A total of 96 firefighters, five women, participated in the firefighting effort.
Brigadier Al Shamsi said the operating room had won a report at 6:30 p.m., indicating that a chimney had begun on the Ajman public market. Civil coverage groups rushed from 4 chimney stations, the first lot arrived at the site in just 3 minutes. The domain was agreed upon without delay and a primary crisis was averted, as firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby buildings.
He said there is a major threat that the chimney will spread temporarily due to flammable products in the area.
Cooling operations are still ongoing and the site will pass to Ajman police in due course to the cause of the fire.
